Destiny distractions - Thursday, 7 September
“The sower soweth the word.”
Mark 4:14 KJV

“And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some

an hundred.”
Mark 4:20 KJV

Jesus said that God’s Word is like a seed: if you sow it into your heart, and your heart is like fertile soil, it will produce a harvest. This applies to the truths of healing, prosperity, freedom, peace and everything else. If you take the scriptures (seed) on these issues and meditate on them (plant them in your heart), they will produce the fruit they speak of. It’s not enough to hear the Word, we need to “receive it” – we need to allow the seed (word) to take root in our hearts so that they can produce their fruit. This also applies to your destiny – God has a word about your destiny! You need to hear and receive God’s general word (from the Bible) concerning your destiny, and you need to hear and receive His specific word through His Holy Spirit. When you hear and receive destiny seed you need to protect it and guard over it. You may have received a word from God concerning your destiny but if you don’t cultivate that word (seed) it won’t produce anything. Your destiny won’t happen by accident – you have an active role to play in tending to the seed. The seed will grow and produce – it is in the nature of a seed to produce fruit – all you need to do is cultivate the soil (your heart) and water it (feed it by focusing on it and making decisions in line with the word). There is nothing wrong with the word from God – it is the incorruptible seed of the Word of God (1 Peter 1:23). All you need to do is simply receive it and hold onto it; it will grow and it will produce!

“And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.”
Mark 4:15 NKJV

Your enemy, the devil, doesn’t like you or the destiny that’s on your life. He will try to take the Word away from you. Any attack on your life is only ever an attack on the Word; its purpose is to get you to doubt the word of God and the Word of God (Mark 4:17). The enemy doesn’t want you to fulfill your destiny because you are a threat to his plan. The purpose of his attacks is to distract you and pull you away from your God-given destiny. He can’t stop the Word from producing fruit in your life, but if he can get you to doubt the Word (steal the Word from you) he will prevent it from producing.

“And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word, And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.”
Mark 4:18-19 KJV

The enemy’s attacks on your life are destiny distractions, aimed at pulling you off-track from your God-given destiny. These attacks aren’t necessarily temptations to sin morally; sometimes they’re more subtle than that. The enemy will use good things to distract us from God things. The aim of the destiny distractions is to “choke the word” (to stop the life-flow in them) so that they will not produce anything. These destiny distractions are anything that we allow to become more important to us than God and the Word God gave us, and they usually come in one of three categories: cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches and lusts of other things.

When we prioritize what God prioritizes, and His desires become our desires, the destiny distractions will have no hold on us. As we keep our eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2) and seek first His kingdom and righteousness (Matthew 6:33), we will effortlessly walk in our destinies.

Much love,

Shayne
