Language of the believer
Romans 4:18 New King James Version (NKJV)
18 who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.”
Abram became Abraham. God changed his name after promising him that he’d be the father of many nations. Abraham believes God’s promise even though it was completely against what the natural circumstances said. Abraham was given a promise and he chose to believe that he would see that promise come to pass.
Romans 4:19 New King James Version (NKJV)
“19 And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb.”
Just because you have a promise from God doesn’t mean it’s easy to believe. Abram had a promise from God and yet everything in the natural was against that promise from coming to pass. And yet, against hope, in hope he believed. This is showing us that faith does not consider the circumstances. You may be facing bleak and hopeless things right now and everything in the natural seems like it’s not going well. Against what circumstances are shouting at you, choose to believe! Believe the Word of God no matter how bleak and hopeless things look. Faith believes that according to that which was spoken (according to the Word/ promise) so shall it be! You might not have much hope in the natural but you need to look to the Word of God and not the natural. Your attitude and your confession need to be according to that which was spoken, not that which you see. For Abram and his wife Sarah, there was absolutely no hope in the natural; both of them were so old that the Bible says that they were as good as dead when it came to having kids. But they rejected the natural circumstances and chose to believe God!
We need to reject the limitations of the natural and we need to press on into supernatural hope through faith; we need to press on into the promises of God and like Abraham, base our faith on God’s word. We need to believe that every word of God is powerful and contains the faith of God to bring it to pass. We need to believe that God’s word is true and everything else is a lie. If we only consider God’s word then we’re only going to believe. If we consider the circumstances we’re going to waver in our faith and struggle to believe. If we choose to believe what God’s word says and we choose to reject the natural elements we will see supernatural results. My mother is a phone line prayer minister and she was telling me yesterday that she was praying with a lady who is pregnant and had suffered a number of miscarriages. She called in for prayer because she had not felt any movement in her belly for a long time and said she was fearful that this baby was also dead. My mother prayed over the phone speaking life into the child and while she was praying the baby moved! We’ve got to choose not to believe the natural over God’s Word. We might get a negative report from a doctor but we don’t fight the doctors! They are looking at the natural and giving us a report according to the natural; that’s their job and if we go to them for their opinion we can’t expect them to build us up in faith and speak life or pray for us. You may have a good doctor like that but their job is to tell you what they see. It’s your job to say “thank you” and go and get into the Word of God and find scripture concerning your situation. Find God’s report on your situation and choose to believe his report over the doctor’s report.
Speak faith and life and you will start to see the power of God in manifestation in your life. Take the doctors report, but then you go to the Word and you start to speak out faith, “Father, Your word says that by Your stripes I am healed and that all things are possible to him who believes! Father, the doctor said that I’m going to die but I choose to believe Your Word!” When you get a negative report you have got to go to the Word of God and choose not to fear but to believe God and speak out His Word! “Father, I’m choosing to believe Your Word. I’m choosing to reject the natural report and I’m choosing to go with the supernatural report! I’m choosing to believe!” And then start to speak life and health to your body and declare your faith. Don’t speak out any fear or unbelief. Say what God says – that’s faith! The language of the believer is faith. Don’t sound like an unbeliever because you’re a believer. Get into the word speak His promises, believe His promises and you’ll see supernatural things come to pass.
