NEVER TOO FAR.
13 You know what I was like when I followed the Jewish religion—how I went after the Christians mercilessly, hunting them down and doing my best to get rid of them all. 14 I was one of the most religious Jews of my own age in the whole country and tried as hard as I possibly could to follow all the old, traditional rules of my religion.
15 But then something happened! For even before I was born, God had chosen me to be his and called me—what kindness and grace— 16 to reveal his Son within me so that I could go to the Gentiles and show them the Good News about Jesus.
Galatians 1:13-16 Living Bible
Just because someone is zealous or passionate doesn’t mean they’re right. Before Paul became a passionate Christ-follower and pillar in the church he was passionately and wholeheartedly seeking to destroy the church. Paul experienced such a radical 180 degree turn around after an encounter with Jesus and experiencing His grace that Paul’s testimony (or reputation) among the churches was, “He who formerly persecuted us now preaches the faith which he once tried to destroy.”
No one is too far from God’s grace – there is an abundance of grace available to all of us, including the worst sinner. The reality is that you cannot out-sin God’s grace – the magnitude of His grace far outweighs any debt on our part. We should never think that anyone is too far from God to be saved and change!
