The abundant life – Your victory isn’t a maybe… – Tuesday, 3 October
“55 “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 15:55-57 New King James Version (NKJV)
God made us victorious through the new birth (1 John 5:4). He has set us up to be victorious by making it an identity issue. We are no longer sinners doomed to failure, but because of Jesus, His abundance of grace and His gift of right standing with God (Romans 5:17), we are now saints who can reign in life.
There is no failure in God – He is victorious. It’s in His nature. Now that we are “born of God”, victory is in our nature. Our victory is not a maybe. It’s a given.
Your victory is not a maybe. God wants you to be victorious. He has made you victorious. He has set you up for victory. If you are experiencing anything less than victory, it’s not God’s fault and it’s not His will for you, either. Too many people blame God for their misery, not realising that He has set us up for abundant life. But we need to choose it.
One translation says, “Your victory is not a maybe. Because of the magnanimous doing of Jesus Christ, it’s a given!”
As believers we identify with Christ’s death, burial and resurrection – we died with Him, we were buried with Him and rose to life with Him (Romans 6:4-8). His victory is your victory! His victory over sin and death is equally yours! And your victory is not just a maybe – your victory is secured! Your victory is definite – it’s not just a maybe!
In Him you are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37) and destined to reign in life (Romans 5:17) over sin, sickness and all the power of the devil (Romans 5:17; Matthew 10:1). Greater is Jesus in you than anything that could ever come against you (1 John 4:4; Colossians 1:27). Jesus in you is greater than depression, greater than cancer, greater than bankruptcy, greater than fear of death, greater than rejection, greater than trauma, and greater than all the powers of hell.
When you see yourself as God sees you, you’ll start living the abundant life that He has for you!
Much love,
Shayne
