Where is your faith?

Where is your faith?

Mark 9:23 KJV
“Jesus said unto him, “If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.”

A lot of Christians don’t believe this; they believe that all things are possible with God, which is true, but Jesus said that all things are possible to him that believes. You have a part to play in experiencing a miracle. Miracles don’t just fall on us unexpectedly. A miracle is the result of someone’s faith being released. You might be in a situation where you need a miracle. I want to encourage you that if you can believe, all things will be possible for you. Faith without works is dead (James 2:26). It’s not enough to believe without appropriate action – true faith is always accompanied by corresponding or appropriate action. The normal Christian life isn’t just about faith in your heart, but it involves faith in action. If you have true faith you won’t just sit on your blessed assurance and wait for God to do something. That’s passivity. Faith isn’t waiting on God; faith responds to God by stepping out in faith. It’s not faith to be waiting on God to move mountains in your life; God is waiting for you to step out in faith and move mountains. He’s waiting for you to step out in boldness and use your faith.

Mark 11:22-23 KJV
“And Jesus answering saith unto them, “Have faith in God.  23  For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.”

Jesus is teaching on how to release your faith. The day before Jesus said this the disciples had seen Him speak to the fig tree and curse it, saying, “let no one eat fruit from you ever again.” The next day, the disciples saw that the fig tree had withered and Peter said, “Rabbi, look the fig tree which you’ve cursed has withered.” Did you know that the moment Jesus spoke that fig tree death started working in it at the roots; it wasn’t visible, but something started happening. But it was only the next day that they saw the visible tangible manifestation of what Jesus had spoken. Jesus took the opportunity to teach them about faith and he starts off saying, “Have faith in God.” The first thing that Jesus says is, “Have faith in God.”

Many people have faith in their faith and not in God. Faith in God is the only reason you can speak to a mountain and commanded to move, and then see something happened. It’s not your power, it’s his! Your faith simply releases God’s power and ability. It’s got nothing to do with your ability or goodness; it’s all Jesus. All you’re doing is believing (having faith) and seeing His power released into the situation. A lot of people flowing gifts of the Holy Spirit, like prophecy and words of knowledge, can easily start to think something of themselves. When you start flowing in the power of the Holy Spirit you need to purposefully remind yourself that it’s the grace of God (undeserved favour) and you’re only experiencing it because of faith in Him. Our faith mustn’t be in our ability, goodness or efforts but in God’s ability. Our confidence needs to be in Him and in his power, ability, willingness and desire to intervene in our lives. When we need to pray for someone who needs healing, our faith shouldn’t be in our compassionate love for the person, our confidence should be resting in the fact that God loves that person and has compassion on them, and has already released His healing power towards them.

When we have faith in God, all things are possible for us.
