I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this; however I do have one compelling focus…
Philippians 3:13-14 The Passion Translation (TPT)

The strength of a laser is in its focus but as soon as the focused light is diffused, it loses its strength and power. Where is your focus in life? The answer to this question is revealed in how you spend your time and money. Are you living with one compelling focus, or are you just going with the flow?

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33 King James Version (KJV)

So above all, constantly chase after the realm of God’s kingdom and the righteousness that proceeds from him. Then all these less important things will be given to you abundantly.
Matthew 6:33 The Passion Translation (TPT)

For many believers, life is about comfort, leisure and pleasure. This is what they pursue, just like the world does. The problem is that comfort, leisure and pleasure are momentary and are not eternal, while God’s kingdom is. It may take sacrificing comfort and nice stuff to focus your life on seeking God and His kingdom first, but it is eternally worth it. My life is a testimony to that. The world is chasing after wealth and yet when they die they will not take their wealth with them. God’s process or flow is that when we prioritize God and chase after His kingdom, then the less important things (in context it’s referring to provision) are simply given to us, abundantly. It is not wrong to have wealth and God wants you to have wealth, but it’s wrong if your heart and life are consumed by making money, spending money and getting more money. We need money to live in this world – money is not evil – but as believers, we need to be consumed with God and His kingdom. This is why we exist. Living with a kingdom focus would be prioritising the use of our wealth to impact eternity by reaching people with the gospel. When we live with a focus like this – for the King and His kingdom – the King will make sure all the less important things are ours, too.

The strength of a laser is in its focus but as soon as the focused light is diffused, it loses its strength and power. An athlete trains intensely and is disciplined with their diet and life because of their passionate focus. If you must undergo intense life-saving surgery you’ll want specialists (doctors who are experts in a specific area because of their focus) working on you, not generalists. General medical practitioners will refer you to a specialist when they see a problem requiring specialised training. The bigger a problem, the more specialised advice you need. And whilst surgeons are operating on you, you want them to focus and not have one eye on you while the other is on a big game on television.

Where is your focus in life? The answer to this question is revealed in how you spend your time and money. Are you living with one compelling focus? Are you living life on purpose and for a purpose? Are you living with kingdom priorities?
