Decisions determine your destiny - Friday, 12 January

Your destiny isn’t about a destination somewhere out there in the future; it starts now, with every step you take. It’s a journey, not a destination, and every step of the journey is an important part of the bigger picture. Too many people either live in the past (regretting what they have or haven’t done) or they live in the future (always wanting to be somewhere else), but God’s name is “I am” (not “I was” or “I will be”). He is with you in the now to walk with you in your destiny, and help you fulfil your calling.

“Today I am giving you a choice of two ways. And I ask heaven and earth to be witnesses of your choice. You can choose life or death. The first choice will bring a blessing. The other choice will bring a curse. So choose life! Then you and your children will live.”
Deuteronomy 30:19 ERV

God has good plans for you; plans of prosperity, peace and well-being; a future filled with hope! This is God’s desire for you, but that doesn’t mean that it’s just going to happen automatically. If you want to experience the blessing of God and enjoy the abundant life which Jesus came to bring (John 10:10) you need to choose it. Your destiny is made up of many decisions that you make. Therefore, we need to learn to make wise, spirit-led decisions every step of the way. Yes, you will make mistakes along the way, but like a GPS which recalculates your route after you have taken a wrong turn, God is more than able to help get you back on track. The important thing to realize is that your decisions determine your destiny. You’re either making decisions to go in the direction that God is calling you, or you’re making decisions which are pulling you away from it.

“O LORD, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.”
Jeremiah 10:23 KJV

It all comes down to relationship with God. We cannot successfully live this life without Him! You may think that you can, but apart from God, you really aren’t smart enough to make decisions concerning your destiny. Everything flows out of relationship with God. Through knowing Him, you will discover what your life is all about, and what your next step should be.
