God is faithful who promised - Friday, 08 December

“Let him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you.”
1 Peter 5:7 TLB

We do not have to carry our worries and cares – what a blessing! The world doesn’t have this privilege of a loving heavenly Father who is an ever-present help in time of trouble, but we do. Therefore, we should respond differently than the world does to challenges and things that could cause stress, anxiety and fear.

Worries and cares will only cause your heart to be consumed and overloaded, and this will result in health and emotional issues. We need to learn to live a let go and trust God life. That’s what this verse is saying – stop worrying about stuff and trust God. But here’s the thing:  we can only trust God in proportion to our knowledge of what He promised.

“Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised”
Hebrews 10:23 KJV

We are encouraged to hold fast to the profession (or confession) of our faith. Sadly, many believers tend to hold fast to their confession of the problem and how bad it is, or they hold fast to their assumption of faith.

Holding fast to your assumption of faith may be better than focusing on the problem but it won’t bring deliverance. People who hold fast to their assumption of faith say things like, God is faithful… yes, He is faithful, but faith to do what? Scripture says that He is faithful that promised. So, what has He promised? If you do not know what God says and what the promises are from the Word concerning your situation, then you’re probably living in the land of assumptions and not in faith. Faith can only come from hearing the Word (Romans 10:17) – if there is no Word, there is no faith. Faith is based on knowledge – you can only believe something you know. Ignorance is the number one problem in a Christian’s life.

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…”
Hosea 4:6 KJV

The antidote to stress is living in the rest of Jesus. We live in this rest by trusting in Him. You can only trust in God and put faith in His promises if you know them.

What challenges are you facing, today? Do you have health issues? Does your financial situation look bleak? Do you feel alone? It doesn’t matter how bad things may seem, God is faithful who promised.

Make a decision today that you will not allow the enemy to steal, kill and destroy in your life because of your lack of knowledge. Dig into His Word and discover what He promised. Then speak those promises out aloud over your life and thank God for them.
